Lacripure
Lacripure is an unbuffered preservative-free saline (0.9% sodium chloride solution) packaged in 5mL vials. It comes in a box of 98 vials.
For people who need only a small amount of saline per session, Lacripure can last up to 3 months.
As an unbuffered saline, Lacripure is slightly acidic. However, according to some sources, its pH may be about 6.5, which is significantly higher than other unbuffered saline solutions.
Progent
Menicon PROGENT is a highly effective deposit and protein remover suitable for gas permeable lenses, including sclerals. It is popular for people with chronic stubborn deposits on their lenses.
To use Progent with scleral lenses, you need to separately purchase a special basket style case (Progent Large Diameter Case) . This case cannot be used for disinfection with Clear Care because it is not vented.
Progent large diameter lens case
The Progent case is a Menicon brand “basket”-style specialty case for using Progent cleaning solution with scleral lenses.
The Progent case accommodates lenses between 11mm and 23mm diameter.
As a matter of safety, this case should never be used with hydrogen peroxide cleaning systems (Clear Care). H2O2 requires a vented case.
